6th AUTOCITS Open Workshop

The 6th AUTOCITS Workshop took place on 28th February in Lisbon. This project is working on the deployment of C-ITS systems to develop future autonomous driving. In the event, organised by the Portuguese traffic authority, the ANSR, the developments carried out as well as the results and achievements were presented. Rodrigo Castiñeira, coordinator of the project, began by presenting the objectives of the project and the Madrid and Paris pilots, followed by Pedro Serra presenting the Lisbon pilot in addition to different speakers related to the transport industry such as CTAG, Bosch or Brisa. The Portuguese National Guard and Police talked about autonomous driving from the citizen safety point of view, reflecting the great impact that will be produced with the arrival of the autonomous vehicle. Finally, the Deputy State Secretary for Mobility of Portugal, José Mendes, closed the event emphasizing the need to continue researching and working on C-ITS services and autonomous driving as the way to improve the safety, efficiency and health of our cities. The event was accompanied by a demonstration with autonomous shuttles.
